HubSpot CRM Review
Free forever at the core, expensive fast once you need more than the core.
Last updated July 7, 2026
HubSpot's CRM is genuinely free for unlimited users, and its Breeze AI tools are some of the most capable we tested — but the jump from the $7/seat Starter tier to the $90/seat Professional tier, plus a mandatory onboarding fee, is a real budgeting trap.
| Price | Free (core CRM) → $7/seat/mo Starter → $90/seat/mo Professional (+ $1,500 onboarding fee) |
| Best for | Teams that want to start on a free tier and are prepared to pay a premium as they scale |
| Overall score | 8.4 / 10 |
Pros & Cons
Pros
- The free CRM tier has no user cap and no time limit — contact management, deal tracking, and a meeting scheduler are permanently free
- Breeze AI suite includes a genuinely useful prospecting agent, an AI email writer, and automatic call-summary/next-step suggestions
- One of the largest third-party app marketplaces of any CRM, so almost any tool you already use likely has a native integration
- Scales cleanly from a single free user up to enterprise-grade marketing, sales, and service Hubs on one underlying data model
- Extensive free educational content and certifications, which lowers the ramp-up cost for a new hire
Cons
- The price jump from Starter ($7/seat/mo) to Professional ($90/seat/mo) is steep, and Professional adds a one-time $1,500 onboarding fee (Enterprise adds $3,500)
- Advanced AI features are increasingly sold through a separate paid credits system layered on top of your subscription tier, so your real AI budget is hard to predict from the pricing page alone
- Marketing, Sales, and Service are separately priced "Hubs" — easy to underestimate total cost if you assume one subscription covers everything
- Free-tier live chat and email are HubSpot-branded, which some small businesses prefer to remove

Full Verdict
HubSpot's free CRM is one of the best deals in software — unlimited users, no trial clock, and enough contact and deal management to run a small sales process for as long as you need to. That alone makes it worth having in this list, and worth trying before you pay for anything.
The catch shows up the moment you need more than the basics. Starter is a reasonable $7/seat/month, but Professional — where the real automation, reporting, and AI live — jumps to $90/seat/month, and both Professional and Enterprise carry a mandatory one-time onboarding fee on top of the subscription. Budget for that jump before you commit, not after you're locked into a workflow built on Professional-only features.
Breeze, HubSpot's AI suite, is legitimately good — the prospecting agent and call-summary tools held up well in our testing. But several of the more advanced AI actions draw from a separate credits allotment, which means your effective AI cost can climb independently of your subscription tier.
If you're a solo user or very small team that can live inside the free tier or Starter for a while, HubSpot is an easy recommendation. If you know you'll need Professional-level automation within the next year, model that $90/seat cost (plus onboarding) into your decision now, because it's a meaningfully different price bracket than the entry tier suggests.
